Telangana DGP CV Anand orders police to boost cyber security rankings

Telangana Director General of Police C. V. Anand held a video conference with officers from all police units on July 24, reviewing the state’s cyber‑security initiatives, the e‑Zero FIR system and the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS). He directed officers to improve the state’s performance across the nine national cyber‑security key performance indicators, aiming for a top position in the national rankings.

Anand highlighted the Union government’s concern over rising cyber‑fraud, especially “digital arrest” scams, and noted that the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre regularly assesses states. He said the e‑Zero FIR scheme had not reached its full potential and ordered its effective rollout. The DGP praised the coordinated efforts of T‑SPARK and the Telangana Cyber Security Bureau, which logged nearly 20 e‑Zero FIRs in two days. Current rankings show Telangana at 13th in e‑Zero FIR implementation, 18th in money restoration (46.6% recovery), 4th in grievance redressal, 15th in cyber‑security parameters and 8th in capacity building. He also instructed officers to strengthen capacity‑building and IEC activities and to utilise CCTNS fully in cyber‑crime investigations.
