Telangana doctors association seeks task force to combat illegal medical practices
The Healthcare Reforms Doctors Association (HRDA) in Telangana has called for the creation of a dedicated, statewide task force to combat the widespread issue of quackery and illegal medical practices. The association highlighted that unqualified individuals, often operating as Rural Medical Practitioners (RMPs), pose a severe public health threat, particularly in rural and semi-urban areas. This request follows reports of patient deaths in Khammam, Mahabubabad, Jangaon, and Hyderabad linked to improper medical interventions.
In a related crackdown, police conducted raids across Hyderabad, Medchal, and Sangareddy, resulting in the arrest of ten individuals posing as doctors. These individuals were unable to produce valid medical credentials and were found practicing medicine, including pediatric consultations and administering IV fluids, without authorization. Authorities seized various medical equipment, including stethoscopes, blood pressure machines, and expired medications, during the operation.
