Telangana Golconda Masters golf tournament to begin in Hyderabad

The Telangana Golconda Masters is scheduled to take place at the Hyderabad Golf Association from September 1 to 4. The tournament features a prize purse of Rs 1 crore and serves as a critical qualifier for the season-ending DP World India Championship, with the top 24 players from the DP World PGTI Order of Merit earning spots.

The 132-player field includes prominent Indian professionals such as Saptak Talwar, Veer Ahlawat, and Rashid Khan. International competitors include defending champion Jamal Hossain of Bangladesh, Stepan Danek of the Czech Republic, players from Sri Lanka, Nepal, Uganda, and Japan. Local Hyderabad-based professionals including Mohd Azhar, Vishesh Sharma, and Rupinder Singh Gill will also compete.

Kapil Dev, President of the DP World Professional Golf Tour of India, noted that the tournament aims to promote Telangana and Hyderabad as significant golf-tourism destinations. The Telangana government has expressed interest in utilizing sporting initiatives to increase the state's national and international visibility.
