Telangana government announces Rs 596 crore bonus for Singareni employees

The Telangana government has announced a Dasara festival bonus totaling Rs 596 crore for the employees of the state-owned Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL). This amount represents a 34% share of the company’s Rs 1,754 crore net profit earned this year.

Under the distribution plan, permanent employees will receive an average profit share of Rs 1,53,912 each, while contract workers will receive Rs 5,500 each. The decision affects approximately 38,737 permanent staff and 29,717 contract workers.

In addition to the cash bonus, the government outlined several welfare measures. These include clearing 250–300 pending compassionate appointment cases within 15 days, expanding housing initiatives through the Nehru Housing scheme, and upgrading healthcare facilities. Contract workers will be provided with free accident insurance worth Rs 40 lakh, while permanent employees will receive coverage of Rs 1.2 crore.

Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka noted that the current profit is lower than the previous year's Rs 6,394 crore, attributing the decline to the closure of several coal blocks and a failure to secure new blocks in previous years. The government stated it is now focusing on acquiring new coal blocks to strengthen the company's production and revenue.
