Telangana government to resolve decades-old land ceiling cases

Telangana Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy has announced a government initiative to resolve decades-old Urban Land Ceiling (ULC) applications. The move aims to address thousands of pending cases that have caused difficulties for citizens regarding land rights and property transactions.

To facilitate this, the government issued Memo No. 48062 to review applications filed under previous Government Orders (GOs) 455, 456, 747, and 92. The minister noted that while a 2016 order for ULC regularisation existed, it was not implemented by the previous administration.

Additionally, the state is fast-tracking the resolution of issues related to Section 22-A of the Registration Act. This section restricts the registration of certain properties, such as government, forest, or ULC surplus land. The government stated that owners of houses, plots, and flats with valid approvals from authorities like GHMC, HMDA, or DTCP may be permitted to register their properties even if they appear on the restricted list. A high-level panel led by the Chief Commissioner of Land Administration will oversee the review process.
