Telangana Government launches Family Register Certificate for SIR scheme

The Telangana government issued G.O. Ms No. 172 on July 25, 2026 to establish an electronic Telangana Family Register and to issue a Family Register Certificate through the MeeSeva platform for a service charge of ₹62. The register records the family composition—including ration‑card number, head of family, members’ names, relationships, ages, dates of birth, genders, Aadhaar numbers and address—but does not determine legal heirship or confer entitlement to scheme benefits. The certificate is accepted as one of the twelve documents for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process, helping poor and undocumented residents respond to SIR notices.

Asaduddin Owaisi, leader of the All India Majlis‑e‑Ittahadul Muslimeen, welcomed the move, noting that he had submitted a representation to the state alongside Congress minister Faheem Qureshi. Owaisi said the service would be highly beneficial for disadvantaged people and thanked the state government for the timely decision.
