Telangana Government Launches Statewide Bonded Labour Awareness Campaign

On July 30 2026, coinciding with World Day Against Trafficking in Persons and the golden jubilee of the Bonded Labour System (Abolition) Act, the Telangana government partnered with NALSAR University of Law and the anti‑trafficking organisation IJM to hold a state conference on eradicating bonded labour.

During the event, Shri Ch Panchakshari, Member Secretary of the Telangana State Legal Services Authority, and Shri Krishna Deva Rao, Vice‑Chancellor of NALSAR, flagged off “Swechaa Ratham,” a mobile awareness van that will travel through all 33 districts of Telangana. The campaign, supported by Chief Minister Shri Revanth Reddy’s Telangana Rising 2047 vision, aims to increase public awareness, strengthen prevention measures, and encourage victims to seek assistance. Over 380 survivors attended, and officials emphasized coordinated action among police, revenue, labour, and women & child‑welfare departments.

The TSLSA is also conducting legal‑awareness drives in villages, reinforcing survivor‑centred approaches to rescue, rehabilitation, and access to justice. Shri Ch Panchakshari warned, “Even after 50 years of the BLSA Act, bonded labour continues to exist, which is a matter of grave concern.”
