Telangana government to review Hyderabad RTC-Metro common pass fares
The Telangana government has announced a review of the recently launched RTC-Metro common pass charges following widespread public complaints regarding high costs. Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar stated that officials will meet soon to assess commuter feedback and actual travel requirements to determine if the pricing can be made more affordable.
The current fare structure for the common pass includes a daily rate of ₹400 (comprising ₹300 for Metro services and ₹100 for TGSRTC buses) and a monthly rate of ₹8,500 (comprising ₹7,000 for Metro travel and ₹1,500 for RTC bus services).
Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka directed the review to ensure the integrated transport system does not impose an undue financial burden on citizens. The government's stated objective is to strengthen Hyderabad's public transport network by encouraging wider use of both the Metro and RTC bus services through convenient and accessible pricing.
