Telangana High Court halts Ameenpur Lake beautification

The Telangana High Court has halted proposed beautification works at Ameenpur Pedda Cheruvu due to a dispute regarding the lake’s Full Tank Level (FTL) land extent. The court suspended a government order that claimed the FTL and lake area spanned 464.56 acres, instead allowing restoration works to proceed only within the originally notified 93.15-acre area.

Justice B. Vijaysen Reddy ordered that the status quo be maintained over the disputed properties. While the state argued, using satellite imagery, that the lake spread is approximately 461 acres, the court relied on historical documents that identified a smaller FTL. The court has impleaded the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) as a respondent in the matter.
