Telangana High Court issues contempt notice to Education Secretary

The Telangana High Court has issued a contempt notice to Education Secretary Yogita Rana for allegedly failing to comply with a previous court order regarding the Hyderabad Public School (HPS) Society.

The legal matter stems from a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by Durgam Ravinder, which raised concerns over the management of funds, unauthorized constructions, and irregularities in admissions and recruitment. Additionally, allegations were made regarding the status of approximately 100 acres of government land within the HPS Begumpet premises that may not be included in the Society’s records.

In October, the court had directed the Education Secretary to examine these issues and take appropriate action within three months. Following claims that no action had been taken nearly a year later, a bench led by Chief Justice A. P. Singh issued the notice, requiring an immediate explanation from the Secretary regarding the non-compliance.
