Telangana High Court restricts detention of livestock transport vehicles

The Telangana High Court has ruled that officials are not permitted to detain livestock transport vehicles for extended periods if their documentation and permits are found to be valid.

In an order passed by Justice Anil Kumar Jukanti, the court stated that while authorities have the right to stop and inspect vehicles, they must allow passage once paperwork is verified. The court noted that prolonged detentions can impair business operations and cause significant delays in livestock delivery to customers.

The ruling follows a petition by Hyderabad-based Go Greys Livestock Movers, which alleged that its vehicles were repeatedly stopped and held for hours without valid reason, causing damage to the company's goodwill and violating constitutional rights to practice trade and personal liberty.
