A 21-year-old man, identified as Durgesh, has been taken into custody by police in the Medak district of Telangana following the death of his mother. The incident occurred in Alupeta village within the Tekmal mandal.
According to preliminary reports, Durgesh allegedly poured diesel on his 40-year-old mother, Sayamma, and set her on fire due to suspicions that she was practicing black magic. The victim sustained severe burns and died at the scene. While the suspicion of black magic is a primary motive cited, authorities are also investigating potential underlying family disputes that may have contributed to the violence.
The body was transported to the government hospital in Jogipet for a post-mortem examination. Tekmal police have initiated an investigation to determine the exact circumstances and motives behind the attack.
