Telangana man protests hospital negligence by wheeling mother to MLA's house

In the Mancherial district of Telangana, a man pushed his ailing mother in a wheelchair for two kilometres to the residence of local MLA K. Premsagar Rao to protest alleged negligence at a government hospital.

Raj Kumar reported that his mother, Bukiya Bujji, who suffers from a kidney-related ailment, was left waiting in a wheelchair for five hours at the Mancherial district hospital without being attended to or provided a bed. Kumar alleged that hospital staff ignored his requests for treatment and refused to refer the patient to a hospital in Karimnagar, instead suggesting a private facility.

Following the protest, the hospital's Resident Medical Officer met with the pair at the MLA's home and assured them of proper medical care. Bukiya Bujji was subsequently returned to the hospital, where a bed was arranged and treatment commenced. Hospital authorities have promised an inquiry into the alleged negligence.
