Telangana Minister Konda Surekha faces potential Congress disciplinary action

The Congress party is expected to decide on disciplinary action against Telangana Minister Konda Surekha after September 2, following the return of AICC General Secretary K. C. Venugopal from an overseas trip. The decision will follow a review of recommendations from a disciplinary committee headed by MP Mallu Ravi.

The inquiry stems from controversial remarks made by the minister’s daughter, Sushmita, during a birthday celebration in August. Sushmita alleged that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has neglected those who supported his political rise and accused him of corruption involving shell companies. In her response to a show-cause notice, Konda Surekha questioned why she should be held accountable for her daughter’s statements.

While some party members have expressed concern, Jadcherla MLA Anirudh Reddy has offered indirect support to the minister, citing respect for women. Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka has reportedly declined to mediate the dispute, and Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has stated that the disciplinary committee’s decision will be final.
