Telangana Minister urges universities to prioritize student employability
Telangana IT and Industries Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu has called on state universities to prioritize employability and industry exposure over mere degree attainment. Speaking at the Research Education Advancement Conclave (REACH) 2026, the minister emphasized that students should be job-ready immediately upon graduation rather than requiring additional private training.
To bridge the gap between academia and the workforce, Babu urged universities to collaborate with industries on curriculum design, internships, and research. He specifically recommended that every university establish incubation centres to support students and researchers in transforming ideas into startups and commercial products.
The minister noted that as Telangana expands its presence in sectors such as IT, life sciences, pharmaceuticals, aerospace, and advanced manufacturing, educational institutions must align their training with these evolving industry requirements to ensure the workforce is prepared for emerging opportunities.
