Telangana officials arrested for Rs 39.17 lakh bribe
The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Telangana has arrested two public servants, Project Officer Satish Reddy and Technical Officer Raju, in connection with a bribery scandal involving the PMKSY 2.0 Bhagirathipet Project in the Jayashankar Bhupalpally district.
The officials allegedly demanded illegal gratification ranging from 10% to 25% of bill amounts from a contractor. They reportedly threatened to withhold pending payments and deny future work allotments unless the bribes were paid. Investigations revealed that approximately Rs 39,17,000 had already been transferred to various bank and UPI accounts specified by the accused.
Evidence supporting the allegations included bank statements and WhatsApp chat records provided by the complainant. A case has been registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. Both individuals were arrested by the ACB’s Warangal Range and produced before a special court for judicial remand.
