Telangana phone-tapping case: KCR to be named prime accused

A special investigation team (SIT) is preparing to file an additional chargesheet in the Telangana phone-tapping case, naming former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) as the prime accused. The investigation alleges KCR was the mastermind behind illegal surveillance operations during his administration's tenure.

Other high-profile figures, including BRS party working president K.T. Rama Rao, former minister T. Harish Rao, and MLC K. Naveen, are also expected to be listed as accused. The SIT is reportedly building its case using a combination of scientific evidence and victim statements. For instance, allegations against Rama Rao and Naveen stem from statements regarding coerced donations.

In a separate development, allegations have surfaced claiming that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s office may have directed media organizations to focus on the phone-tapping investigation to divert public attention from state issues such as water shortages and power cuts. These claims of using the case as a political distraction remain unverified.
