Telangana Police launch traffic safety bureau and anti‑drug school committees

Telangana Director General of Police C V Anand chaired high‑level meetings to establish a Traffic Management and Road Safety Bureau. The review covered the bureau’s organisational structure, staffing, legal framework and coordination with other departments, aiming to strengthen traffic enforcement, accident prevention and public awareness across the state.

In a parallel meeting, Anand examined the draft policy for Anti‑Drug and Safety Committees in all schools, colleges and other educational institutions. The plan calls for a campus safety coordinator at each institution, mandatory anti‑drug awareness programmes, counselling services and strict penalties for campuses that tolerate drug use. The DGP directed officials to incorporate feedback from education, health and police departments before submitting the final framework to the state government.
