Telangana Real Estate Authority Extends Project Deadlines Amid Registration Freeze

The Telangana Real Estate Regulatory Authority (TGRERA) automatically extended the registration validity and project completion deadlines for eligible real‑estate projects by four months, invoking the West Asia conflict as a force‑majeure event. The move follows a Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs advisory that treats the situation as a "war" under the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act, 2016. No applications or fees are required, and the extension applies to projects whose original or revised completion dates fall on or after 28 February 2026, pushing deadlines to 30 November 2026.

Separately, between 70,000 and 90,000 properties in Greater Hyderabad have been placed on a prohibited list under various provisions of Section 22A of the Registration Act. Owners report that the listings, made without prior notice, block the registration or transfer of houses, flats, and plots, causing hardship for those seeking to sell or resolve property matters. Affected residents have appealed to the district administration for removal of their properties from the list, but no official response has been issued yet.
