Telangana sanctions Rs 1,108 crore for Omkareshwar Temple development
The Telangana government has sanctioned Rs 1,108.27 crore for the development of the Sri Omkareshwar Swamy Temple complex at Manchirevula and the construction of a connecting six-lane road. The project is part of the broader Musi Rejuvenation and Riverfront Development Project (MRDP).
Of the total funds, Rs 948.65 crore is allocated for the temple complex, which will include architectural works, civil and structural components, and religious facilities such as Rajagopurams, a Yagashala, a Pushkarini, and an iconic Shiva statue. The complex is intended to serve as a spiritual and cultural landmark, often referred to as a ‘Dakshina Kashi’.
An additional Rs 159.62 crore will be used to build a 30-metre wide, six-lane road spanning approximately 2.5 km. This road aims to improve connectivity between the temple complex, the Musi Riverfront road network, and surrounding residential and school zones. A technical committee, led by the Chief Engineer of the Roads and Buildings Department, will oversee the development works.
