Telangana sports university signs partnership with South Korea’s KNSU

Telangana’s Young India Physical Education and Sports University (YIPESU) has signed a three-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with South Korea’s Korea National Sport University (KNSU) to enhance sports education and athlete training.

Signed in Seoul by KNSU President Moon Won-Jae and YIPESU Vice-Chancellor Dr. Kishore Gopinathan, the partnership focuses on five key areas: academic programs, faculty and student exchanges, joint research, sports science, and elite athlete development.

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy stated the initiative aims to integrate global best practices into Telangana’s sporting ecosystem. He highlighted KNSU’s success at the 2024 Paris Olympics, where its trainees contributed to 16 of South Korea’s 32 medals. The collaboration is part of Telangana’s long-term strategy to prepare for the 2036 Olympics by developing high-performance athletes.
