Telangana to develop policy for foreign university campuses in Future City
The Telangana government is developing a comprehensive policy to attract prestigious international educational institutions to establish campuses in ‘Future City’. Telangana Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju has directed officials to create a framework that includes infrastructure support, investment incentives, streamlined approval processes, and academic program management to transform the state into a global education hub.
Several institutions, including the University of London and the University of Birmingham, have already expressed interest in opening branches in Future City. Officials are tasked with negotiating with these universities and preparing an action plan for an upcoming global summit.
Additionally, the state is advancing its educational infrastructure through the phased construction of ‘Young India Integrated Schools’ across 119 assembly constituencies. The government aims to complete 67 of these schools by December 2027, with plans to increase that number to 87 by June 2028. Each school is planned to occupy approximately 26 acres and will feature modern facilities such as digital classrooms, sports grounds, and hostels.
