India's Kishan Reddy launches ethanol‑based EV charging system in Telangana
A mobile ethanol‑based electric‑vehicle charger was unveiled in Hyderabad, Telangana, by Union Coal & Mines Minister G Kishan Reddy. The system, developed by KETO Motors, generates electricity on‑site by burning ethanol, allowing fast 150 kW charging without reliance on the power grid. It is designed as a portable unit that can be deployed anywhere within about 72 hours, targeting areas lacking grid infrastructure.
The launch coincided with the hand‑over of KETO Motors’ first nine‑metre commercial electric bus to the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation. The minister highlighted the technology as part of India’s broader push for green mobility, energy security, reduced import dependence and support for farmers producing ethanol from sugarcane and other crops. The government plans to add 800 electric buses to the RTC fleet this December under the PM E‑DRIVE scheme, followed by another 1,400 the next year.
