Telangana's TG-iPASS industrial portal hit by ransomware attack

The TG-iPASS portal, Telangana’s single-window platform for industrial clearances and government-to-business services, was taken offline following a ransomware attack. The breach disrupted access to application and database services, affecting the processing of approvals for manufacturing facilities and service enterprises.

Industries Commissioner Nikhil Chakravarty stated that while data pertaining to approximately 28,000 industries was encrypted during the attack, no data has been lost. The technical team successfully decrypted the database and contained the incident using existing security measures.

Authorities are currently strengthening the system by installing additional firewalls and improving encryption. Before the portal is fully restored, it will undergo compliance checks against Standardisation Testing and Quality Certification (STQC) standards to minimize the risk of future attacks.
