Tele2 recognized by Ookla as fastest 5G network in Lithuania

Tele2 has been recognized by Ookla as having the fastest 5G network in Lithuania, according to data from the first half of 2026. The recognition is based on real-world user measurements via the Speedtest platform.

Valerij Kovzan, Tele2's Technical Director for the Baltic States, noted that mobile internet speed is determined by a combination of radio spectrum, base station density, capacity, and efficient data flow management. The company reported a 20% increase in data transmitted through its network during the first quarter of the year compared to the previous year, driven by high-definition video, cloud services, remote work tools, and online gaming.

Tele2's 5G coverage currently reaches 91.5% of the Lithuanian population. The operator operates over 1,600 base stations, with more than 1,220 supporting 5G connectivity. Currently, more than one-fifth of all mobile data transmitted on the Tele2 network travels via 5G.
