Teleamazonas has announced a significant leadership change, appointing Venezuelan executive Andrés Badra as its new General Manager. Badra succeeds Macarena Fanlo, who held the position for five years. In Uruguay, the state-owned telecommunications company Antel is undergoing a strategic transformation to become a technology-driven entity. During the Antel Summit 2026, President Alejandro Paz stated that the company aims to move beyond traditional telephony and fiber optics to become a core part of the innovation ecosystem. This shift includes providing technological solutions for the industrial and agricultural sectors and developing artificial intelligence infrastructure, including a specialized data center in Canelones.
