Telecel Ghana services disrupted by double fibre cut

A double fibre cut has disrupted Telecel Ghana services across large parts of the Central Region, affecting an estimated 72,754 subscribers. The damage occurred along the Accra–Winneba and Winneba–Cape Coast road corridors.

Communications, Digital Technology and Innovation Minister Samuel Nartey George stated that the disruption impacts approximately 181 Radio Access Network (RAN) sites. The outage affects various communities, including Winneba, Agona Swedru, Apam, Mankessim, and Assin Fosu, as well as areas near the Kasoa–Weija border.

The Minister attributed the damage to excavation work conducted by a road contractor. Telecel engineers are currently on-site working to restore connectivity, while a separate team has been tasked with engaging the contractor to halt further digging to prevent additional infrastructure damage. The National Communications Authority (NCA) is monitoring the situation.
