Telecinco's audience share drops below Cuatro as Spanish TV ratings shift
On Sunday, Telecinco recorded a 6.9 % average audience share, while sister channel Cuatro reached 7 %, marking the first time the primary Mediaset network fell behind its secondary outlet. The result placed Telecinco third in national coverage behind La 1 (14.3 %) and Antena 3 (9.2 %). Analysts attribute the dip to a summer viewing slowdown, a modest summer lineup, and competition from the World Cup broadcast on La 1.
In an effort to reverse the slump, Telecinco launched a new two‑hour Sunday‑afternoon program, "El show de Paz," hosted by longtime presenter Paz Padilla. The show, produced by Secuoya, airs from 16:00 to 18:00 and features human‑interest stories, hidden‑camera segments, and interviews with guests such as William Levy and Carlos Rivera. Padilla emphasized a fresh, humorous tone, noting, “I’m not the Paz of two years ago; we all evolve.” The move is part of Mediaset’s broader strategy to refresh its schedule and recapture viewers.
