Telecom companies provide relief following Bhotekoshi River floods
Following devastating floods in the Bhotekoshi River, telecommunications companies in Nepal have launched relief initiatives to support rescue and rehabilitation efforts. The flooding has caused significant loss of life and property across several districts, including Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading, and Gorkha.
Ncell Foundation has pledged NPR 10 million to the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund. Additionally, Ncell is providing customers in affected areas with free voice and data services, along with 100 free SMS per day for a three-day period to facilitate communication with families and rescue teams.
Nepal Telecom (NTC) has also responded by offering free services in four districts, including Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading, and Chitwan. NTC’s relief package includes unlimited voice calls, 2 GB of data per day, and 50 free SMS for two days. The company reported that the floods damaged five of its towers in Nuwakot and two in Rasuwa, but maintenance teams have been mobilized to restore service.
