Telecom industry advances agentic AI and optical satellite links

Several telecommunications companies are advancing the integration of artificial intelligence and optical technology into network operations.

Airties has launched Aura, an agentic AI engine designed to autonomously diagnose and resolve connectivity issues across broadband networks. Utilizing intelligence from 50 million connected premises, the platform supports fiber, cable, DSL, and fixed wireless access. It enables automated firmware management, remote troubleshooting, and real-time monitoring while maintaining human oversight for operators such as AT&T, T-Mobile US, and Vodafone.

Zayo has introduced Agentic Networking for its DynamicLink platform. This development allows enterprise AI agents to interact directly with network infrastructure to understand conditions and execute authorized actions. By providing a governed way for agents to access network tools, the system aims to automate workflows like establishing cloud-to-cloud connectivity and investigating network performance.

In the satellite sector, India’s Astrogate Labs is developing the country’s first indigenous Optical Inter-Satellite Link terminal. The company aims for flight readiness by 2027 to facilitate high-capacity laser communications between spacecraft. Astrogate has already supplied a terminal to ISRO and demonstrated its 10 Gbps AstroLink Micro laser communications terminal.
