Telefónica and Junta de Andalucía discuss emergency technology

Telefónica hosted an institutional event titled ‘Andalucía Conecta’ in Jerez de la Frontera to discuss the role of technology in preventing and managing emergencies such as fires, floods, and earthquakes.

Antonio Sanz, the Counselor for Presidency, Health, and Emergencies of the Junta de Andalucía, and Joaquín Segovia, Southern Territorial Director of Telefónica Spain, participated in a strategic conversation regarding the importance of resilient telecommunications infrastructure. Sanz highlighted the use of simulators to predict fire behavior and flood patterns to aid in decision-making for evacuations and firefighting.

Telefónica has invested approximately 1,680 million euros to reinforce its network within the Andalusian community. The company emphasized that the continuity of essential services increasingly depends on the ability of telecommunications infrastructures to withstand critical situations, including extreme weather, health emergencies, and cyberattacks.
