Telegram expands Money non-custodial wallet to over 1 billion users

Telegram is expanding access to its non-custodial wallet, now called Money, to its user base of over one billion people. Previously limited to a select group of users, the feature allows for the storage and transfer of GRAM, the native token of the TON blockchain, as well as the purchase of Telegram gifts and collectible usernames.

According to announcements from Walt, the Money section appears within the Telegram interface once a user receives a transfer. Transfers are described as instant and carry no network fees. While Money is designed specifically for GRAM, the separate Walt platform supports more than 300 digital assets, including gold, tokenized stocks, and ETFs.

The expansion follows a phased rollout initially outlined by Telegram founder Pavel Durov. The move has contributed to market activity for GRAM, which saw a 9% price increase to $1.56, bringing its market capitalization to $4.12 billion.
