Telegraph's 2026 Best Pubs Guide features Welsh and Devon establishments

The Telegraph has published its annual Best Pubs Guide for 2026, evaluating 650 pubs across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. The guide highlights 7 country inns and characterful pubs in Powys, Wales, including the 16th‑century Harp Inn at Old Radnor, which received the highest rating in the county with a 4.7‑star Google rating. Other Powys venues named are The Felin Fach Griffin, The Bear Hotel, Horse & Jockey, Neuadd Arms, The Star Inn and Wynnstay Arms Hotel.

In England, 13 Devon pubs made the list, among them the Volunteer Inn in Ottery St Mary. Owners Mike and Jacqui Down, who took over the venue in 2012, have renovated it with a modern dining area, outdoor deck and luxury facilities, earning praise for its community focus and local ale selection. The guide’s panel selected pubs based on charming character, welcoming staff, rich history and award‑winning beer.
