Telekom Srbija spent over $2.5 million on US lobbying
Telekom Srbija has spent more than $2.5 million on lobbying efforts in the United States during the first nine months of this year, according to reports filed with the U.S. Congress. Three Washington-based firms—Valcour, Continental Strategy, and Interlink Capital Strategies—were engaged to represent the company's interests.
Lobbying activities targeted several high-level U.S. institutions, including the State Department, the Department of the Treasury, the Department of Homeland Security, the Executive Office of the President, and the Export-Import Bank (EXIM). Specifically, Continental Strategy reported lobbying regarding EXIM Bank financing and cybersecurity threats.
This spending coincides with Telekom Srbija's plans to expand into the American market. Company director Vladimir Lučić announced that the provider intends to begin offering services in the U.S. via the AT&T network starting December 1. The company aims to reach 500,000 users within three years, primarily targeting individuals of Serbian and regional descent.
