Telesina road expansion project faces renewed delays

The local committee 'Sos 372 Benevento-Caianello' has expressed strong protest following a new announcement regarding the delay of the SS 372 'Telesina' road expansion project. Undersecretary Ferrante stated via the press that construction is now expected to begin 'within the end of the year,' a timeline that the committee has labeled as vague and insufficient.

Citizens are facing significant travel disruptions, with commutes between Telese and Benevento taking up to ninety minutes due to existing construction. The committee criticized the lack of transparency regarding the status of preparatory activities, such as the approval of the executive project, and demanded a specific start date rather than generic promises.

The group highlighted a long history of postponed deadlines, noting that previous assurances for project starts in late 2024, spring 2025, autumn 2025, and summer 2026 have all failed to materialize. They emphasized that the road remains unsafe and inadequate for current traffic volumes after more than thirty years of waiting.
