Teletón Chile advances provisional health center in Castro, Chiloé
The Fundación Teletón held its 2026 Leaders Meeting in Castro, Chiloé, where director Marcelo Salazar presented the charity’s 2025 results. The institute in Puerto Montt delivered 62,547 free rehabilitative services, including 62 surgeries, 2,184 orthoses and prostheses, and 195 technical aids, benefiting 2,076 children and youth in the Los Lagos region, with 8,589 attendances for 345 local residents.
Attendees were briefed on a new modular provisional health center planned for Castro. The municipal council approved ending the existing lease on land on Diego Portales Street, allowing Teletón to seek a new lease and regional funding to build a facility that will provide medical evaluations, rehabilitation, physical therapy, psychosocial support, and educational assistance closer to patients who currently travel to Puerto Montt.
