Televisión Española reunites historic presenters for 70th anniversary special

Televisión Española 70th anniversary Telediario Spanish journalism RTVE

Televisión Española (TVE) celebrated its 70th anniversary with a special broadcast of its news program, titled ‘El Telediario de nuestras vidas’. The commemorative edition, hosted by Pepa Bueno, brought together a historic group of journalists and presenters to review seven decades of major news events.

The special featured iconic figures including Iñaki Gabilondo, Ana Blanco, Matías Prats, Carlos Franganillo, Pedro Piqueras, Olga Viza, and Manuel Campo Vidal. Notably, several participants, such as Matías Prats and Carlos Franganillo, joined from competing networks Atresmedia and Mediaset as part of a collaborative effort to honor the broadcaster's legacy.

The program reviewed significant historical milestones, such as the death of Francisco Franco, the Spanish Transition to democracy, the moon landing, the 1992 Barcelona Olympics, the 9/11 attacks, and the COVID-19 pandemic. The broadcast served as both a nostalgic retrospective and a tribute to the role of public television in Spanish collective memory.
