Television noise may disrupt dog sleep patterns
Leaving a television on while away from home may negatively impact a dog's well-being rather than providing comfort. Because canine hearing is up to four times more sensitive than human hearing, the constant variations in sound—such as dialogue, background music, and sudden volume changes during advertisements—act as an uninterrupted stream of information.
This continuous auditory input can keep a dog in a state of hypervigilance, preventing them from reaching the deep, restorative sleep necessary for their health. Experts suggest that providing a quiet environment, or using soft, regular music instead of television, is better for a pet's rest.
