Mein Schiff 3 cruise ship collides with container ships in Bremerhaven

The cruise ship Mein Schiff 3, operated by TUI Cruises, collided with container ships in the port of Bremerhaven, Germany, on the evening of October 25, 2026. The incident occurred during the vessel's departure for a 20-night cruise to the Canary Islands. Despite being assisted by tugboats, a strong wind gust from Storm Manja caused the 293-meter ship to drift into docked vessels.

Reports indicate the collision involved at least two container ships, including the MSC Victorine, which sustained a roughly 10-meter hull tear above the waterline. The Mein Schiff 3 suffered significant damage to its hull, cranes, and several lifeboats. No injuries were reported among the 2,428 passengers and 922 crew members on board, and no water ingress was detected in any of the vessels.

TUI Cruises has cancelled the scheduled Canary Islands voyage, stating that the ship requires immediate repairs in a shipyard. The Bremen water police have launched an investigation into the incident, including an administrative proceeding against the ship's captain to determine if duty of care was breached. An outbound ban was initially imposed on all three involved vessels.
