Telewizja Polska receives 250 million PLN in state budget subsidies
Telewizja Polska (TVP) has received an additional 250 million PLN installment from the Polish state budget to support its public mission. This payment, transferred on August 4, follows an agreement signed in July with the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage.
Since the beginning of 2026, the total amount of subsidies provided to the public broadcaster has reached 1.15 billion PLN. This direct budgetary funding system has been in place since 2024, replacing previous compensation mechanisms for lost RTV license fee revenues after President Andrzej Duda vetoed a law regarding those compensations in late 2023.
Despite the significant financial support, TVP remains a loss-making entity. In 2025, the broadcaster reported sales revenues of 3.73 billion PLN against operating costs of 3.59 billion PLN, resulting in a net loss of 176 million PLN.
