Telia upgrades mobile network to 5G in Norway
Telia is upgrading its mobile network to 5G and improving 4G capabilities in Norway. The modernization process involves replacing physical equipment at base stations, which may lead to temporary downtime or reduced signal quality in certain areas.
Work is scheduled to begin on Friday, October 30, in Brønnøysund center and is expected to last two to three days. Next week, the upgrade will move to the Hommelstø base station. Georg Svendsen, head of infrastructure at Telia Norway, stated that the company is working to minimize downtime, though users may experience periods of poor coverage or total loss of service depending on their location.
Telia recommends that customers with access to fixed-line internet use WiFi Calling as an alternative during these periods. Emergency number 112 will continue to function as long as another operator has coverage in the affected area.
