Telix and Ekalia partner to produce astatine-211 in the U.S
Telix Pharmaceuticals and Ekalia, a joint venture between IBA and Framatome, have announced a collaboration to establish scalable production of astatine-211 (211At) in the United States. This radioisotope is a next-generation alpha-emitter with significant potential for targeted alpha therapy (TAT) in cancer treatment.
The partnership will involve installing the first IBA alpha-beam cyclotron at Telix’s RLS Radiopharmacies site near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This initiative aims to secure long-term, priority access to the scarce isotope for Telix’s clinical pipeline, including its TLX102-Tx candidate for glioblastoma and leptomeningeal disease, while also providing supply for third-party academic and industrial programs.
The collaboration leverages IBA’s cyclotron technology, Framatome’s nuclear expertise, and Telix’s U.S. manufacturing and distribution infrastructure. The framework allows for the potential evaluation of additional installations across the RLS network as demand for astatine-211 grows.
