Tellbus introduces new Setra double-decker bus in Switzerland

Verkehrsbetriebe Luzern AG and AUTO AG URI have introduced a new Setra S 531 DT double-decker bus on the 'Tellbus' express line 944, which connects Luzern and Altdorf in Switzerland.

Named after the Swiss folk hero Wilhelm Tell, the bus features a distinctive glass roof and gold-silver livery. The vehicle provides 79 seats equipped with Voyage-type Ambassador upholstery and comfort headrests, along with two club tables in the lower deck. The bus is designed to offer a faster connection than the train, traveling via the A2 motorway and the Seelisberg Tunnel in approximately 45 minutes.

Technical upgrades include the MirrorCam system, which replaces traditional side mirrors to provide an expanded field of view, and the ABA 6 emergency brake assistant. The bus also includes an attention assistant and accessibility features such as low-floor entries and dedicated spaces for wheelchair users.
