Tellus Global secures 900 million yen following management buyout

Tellus Global has announced the completion of a management buyout (MBO) and raised over 900 million yen in funding. The company was established to succeed the business of Tellus Co., Ltd., following a management-led buyout from Sakura Internet.

Originally starting as a Japanese government research and development project to open and free satellite data, the Tellus platform has provided data to government agencies, research institutions, and private companies. Under its new independent structure, Tellus Global aims to establish an autonomous satellite data infrastructure in Japan.

The company plans to utilize its Platform as a Service (PaaS) to integrate satellite data with artificial intelligence. This strategy is intended to expand its operations into high-growth sectors, specifically focusing on national security and international markets. The funding will support the strengthening of development systems, service updates, and new business acquisitions.
