Telstra Launches First Australian eSIM Plan for Apple Watch Kids, Expanding Child‑Friendly Smartwatch Options

Telstra has become the first Australian carrier to activate mobile roaming for Apple Watch Kids, offering a dedicated eSIM plan at $20 per month per device. The plan provides a separate phone number, calls, texts, 2 GB of data and access to maps, music, Siri, calendar and emergency SOS. It only works with cellular‑capable Apple Watch models; Wi‑Fi‑only versions cannot use the service.

The move arrives amid a growing market for child‑focused smartwatches. Recent product round‑ups list several models that combine health monitoring (heart‑rate, SpO₂, sleep), extensive sport modes, waterproof ratings (IP68) and parental‑control features such as activity limits and educational games. These devices aim to keep tweens active and connected while giving parents oversight.
