TELUS expands BC rental housing with Nanaimo opening and Saanich proposal
TELUS inaugurated the Telus Living Nanaimo building in downtown Nanaimo on July 23, adding 195 mixed‑use rental units. The project is the first of the company's plan to deliver more than 4,000 purpose‑built rental homes across Canada by 2032. Mayor Leonard Krog and local officials highlighted the development’s role in increasing downtown residency and easing car dependence.
In nearby Saanich, the municipal council approved the first reading of a proposal for a five‑storey, 77‑unit rental building on Feltham Road. The plan, which incorporates an existing TELUS telecommunications facility, requires an Official Community Plan amendment and will proceed to a public hearing. Council members noted that the project will include ample bike and vehicle parking and will be subject to public input.
Both initiatives illustrate TELUS’s growing involvement in affordable housing within British Columbia.
