TEM Highway closed in Istanbul following truck fire

The TEM Highway in Istanbul has been closed in the direction of Edirne following a fire involving a truck near the Bahçeşehir area in Esenyurt. The fire, which broke out around 16:30, caused significant smoke and prompted emergency services, including fire departments and police, to secure the area to prevent potential explosions.

Authorities are currently working to extinguish the flames, cool the site, remove the vehicle wreckage, and clean fuel residues from the road. Traffic is expected to reopen gradually, starting with a single lane, once safety inspections are complete. Drivers are advised to use alternative routes such as the D-100 (E-5) highway or the Northern Marmara Highway.

Separately, the General Directorate of Highways has reported several other road maintenance and construction activities across Turkey. These include slope work on the Aydın-Denizli Highway, demolition work at the Sultanbeyli Toll Collection Station on the TEM Highway, and various construction projects on the Ankara-Konya, Aksaray-Nevşehir, and Balıkesir-Dursunbey routes.
