Temanggung Regency launches health assistance program

The Temanggung Regency Government has launched the Health Protection Assistance (Balinkes) program to support low-income residents facing difficulties accessing medical services. Funded by tobacco excise revenue sharing, the program provides up to Rp2.4 million annually per person for inpatient and emergency care.

To qualify, residents must belong to deciles 1 through 5 and lack BPJS Kesehatan coverage, or have inactive BPJS status. Those outside these deciles may still qualify if they are recorded in local poverty data. Applicants can access services at hospitals or community health centers (puskesmas) by presenting a national ID (KTP) and family card (KK), with eligibility verified by the Social Affairs Office.
