Tempelhofer Feld hosts 13th Giant Dragon Festival

The 13th City and Country Giant Dragon Festival is taking place at Tempelhofer Feld, featuring more than 2,000 kites. The event includes approximately 75 professional pilots from Germany and abroad, showcasing massive displays such as a 30-meter Super Mario, a giant fish, and various colorful teddy bears.

Participants are permitted to fly their own kites in designated areas. Organizers note that flying large kites, some reaching up to 50 meters, requires significant skill due to wind conditions and immense pulling forces that can reach 250 kilograms.

While the German Weather Service predicts weak to moderate winds and dry conditions, organizers noted that very large kites might struggle to ascend without stronger gusts. The free admission event, which includes music, food, and children's activities, expects to draw around 100,000 visitors.
