Tempi railway trial: Families of victims provide emotional testimonies

During the ongoing trial regarding the Tempi railway accident, several family members of the victims provided emotional testimonies. Maria Dolka, mother of Anastasia Papagele, described the tragic death of her daughter, stating that the child suffered an asphyxiating death and struggled for several minutes under the debris. Dolka criticized Hellenic Train and argued that the lack of proper safety systems effectively ‘predestined’ the deaths.

Other family members also testified, including Maria Karystianou, mother of Martha Psaropoulou, and the relatives of Nikolaos Nalmpantis, the assistant driver. Dimitrios Karageorgiou, father of Sotirios Karageorgiou, testified that his son was found 15 meters away from the wreckage, demanding the truth and strict punishment for those responsible. The families collectively called for accountability and justice, emphasizing that many individuals failed to perform their duties correctly.
